About me
Licensed psychological psychotherapist with a focus on cognitive behavioural therapy.

Helena Weitzel · Köln-Rodenkirchen
My path to my own practice began with a five-year bachelor's and master's degree in psychology at the University of Cologne, alongside work as a research assistant in General Psychology II. This was followed by four years of training as a cognitive behavioural therapist at AVT Köln and several years of clinical work, including at Uniklinik Köln and the Salus Klinik in Hürth.
Since opening my outpatient practice, I have accompanied people through a wide range of concerns — particularly depression, anxiety disorders, eating disorders, ADHD and autism.
Another central focus of my work is couples therapy. Here I offer you a protected space to understand relationship patterns, resolve conflicts and develop new perspectives — grounded in cognitive behavioural and schema therapy methods.
I live in Cologne with my husband, our son and our dog. Alongside my psychotherapeutic work, I teach at AVT Köln, where I accompany future colleagues on their way into clinical practice.
What else brings me joy: music, movement and connection. In my free time I passionately teach couple dancing — especially Salsa and Bachata — and there too I experience how much non-verbal communication, trust and togetherness live in a good "relationship".
In contrast to coaching or non-medical counselling, my work is based on state-recognised training, scientifically founded methods and many years of clinical experience.
I am listed in the medical register of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians of Nordrhein (KVNO), hold a statutory insurance accreditation and continue my professional development regularly — for contemporary, evidence-based and empathetic psychotherapy.
