Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions I hear most often.
01 Who is couples therapy for?
For all relationship forms — whether straight, queer, open or polyamorous.
02 When is the right time for couples therapy?
Couples therapy is often sought only once a relationship is already heavily strained. It can be very helpful to start earlier — when difficulties first appear, or when you wish for more closeness, clarity or change.
03 How does an initial consultation work?
We get to know each other, clarify your goals and check whether my approach is a good fit for you.
04 Can I come on my own?
Yes, you are very welcome on your own — for example if your partner is not (yet) ready, or if you first want to sort things out for yourself. Individual sessions can also be very helpful in better understanding relationship dynamics.
05 How does online counseling work?
Via a privacy-compliant video connection — comfortably from home.
06 How many sessions are needed?
This varies greatly from person to person. Some concerns can be resolved in a few sessions, others require more time. After the first sessions it usually becomes clear what scope makes sense. You always help decide how to continue.
07 Do you offer psychotherapy covered by statutory health insurance?
I offer psychotherapy that can be billed through the statutory health insurance system. Treatment is based on cognitive behavioural therapy and is aimed at adults with psychological conditions such as anxiety disorders, depression or eating disorders. You are of course welcome to use the contact form for this as well. The waiting time for a therapy slot is noticeably shorter if you are open to group therapy.
